Introduction:
Modern relays capture a great deal of information on faults and switchgear operation. They also contain more advanced communications than earlier devices. This trial is intended to develop a real-world solution that first allows these communications to reduce the amount of wiring required (hence reducing both installation cost and the risk of mal-operation), and second provides a platform for the kind of advanced analysis being developed by Strathclyde under Supergen V.
Objectives:
This project is intended to enhance Northern Powergrid understanding with regard to switchgear operations, by integrating the information available from modern electronic relays.
