Develop algorithms to analyse field measurements and allocate the proportion of demand in to specific classes, which can then be used to determine how the load will react to changes in voltage.
This proposal aims to identify, in real time, the nature of the load connected on a Low Voltage (LV) distribution feeder, to determine the benefit of reducing the distribution network voltage.

With more low carbon technology load increasing on the LV distribution network, it is necessary to review the original design assumptions and consider alternative operational practices. One method to reduce the local load is to decrease the voltage levels, however it is known that different types of load react differently, possibly leading to increased current, with a consequent increase on the stressing of the network components.
