Energy Storage and Demand Response
Development of a methodology to assess 'where' and 'how much'
demand side resource is located on the network, which can be used to
provide benefits for a range of issues such as peak lopping and short-term
voluntary peak shedding. The methodology includes an assessment of
the potential benefit of accessing and applying this demand side
resource to defer network reinforcement and locate vulnerable network
The project builds on a previous network risk project but also brings a
cross-functional approach, combining both sociological practices of
consumers on the network and engineering characteristics of the
network, to solving a technical network issue.
The project covers a broad range of issues, but mainly focuses on deferring
network reinforcement, with potential benefits in the areas of aging
assets, connection arrangements and remote reconfigurability. In addition
engineering, anthropology and business areas will be explored.
