Introduction:
This programme of work is concerned with mitigation of the impacts of severe weather events. This is being achieved by assessing technology that will enhance National Grid's preparedness for flooding events and developing better weather observation techniques.
Objectives:
Climate change is resulting in greater frequency of flood events similar to the flooding experienced in June/July 2007. In order to reduce the requirements to initiate an assessment of all sites after each of these high profile flooding events, it is envisaged that a robust strategic solution is needed that will be flexible enough that in depth site assessment will not be necessary.
