Introduction:
One of the guiding principles of installing the Orkney ANM system was that generators could gain confidence in the long-term financial viability of their project through a constraint study completed during the connection process. These studies gave financiers the confidence to invest in a project as they had an understanding of what the long-term generation profile would be. However these figures are being eroded by sub-50kW generators connecting on Orkney as they do not require approval to connect but do have an impact on the export of the larger wind farms. The aim of this project is to investigate what can be done to reduce this erosion and to allow sub-50kW generators to connect in a fair and sustainable manner.
Objectives:
The project aims to address the erosion of the generation capacity available to the existing Orkney ANM generators by sub-50kW generators.
