Introduction:
An Overhead Line (OHL) temperature monitoring device which is suitable for large scale rollout is required for future applications of dynamic line ratings and ground clearance monitoring.
Objectives:
Trial overhead line temperature monitoring systems and assess their capability to perform a number of applications. The project will investigate the effect of varying the location of the temperature sensor on the line, as well as testing the ability of the device to perform to the manufacturers specification. The applications that each device is being tested against are:
Dynamic rating for overhead lines
Low ground clearance mitigation
Fault location.
