The project will be delivered in four stages:

  • Stage 1 Proposal development and outline of scope / resources. This stage is complete and this PID is one of the outcomes.

  • Stage 2 Broad-ranging identification of all potential options and an analysis and assessment leading to recommendations on which options should be investigated in greater detail and in priority order in stage three; this will include the identification of case studies for detailed study and the specification of measurement programmes if deemed necessary.

  • Stage 3 Detailed analysis of the options identified in stage two as being most worthy for further investigation, leading to outline specifications on how loss reductions might be achieved; this stage will involve detailed modelling and simulation of case studies and also a programme of measurements and trialing.

  • Stage 4 Detailed specification and implementation of loss reduction methods recommended in stage three.
The key project objective is a meaningful reduction in losses on both the SHEPD and SEPD networks. This is consistent with SSE’s objective to be a leading utility in sustainability and is also a price control incentive.
